Have any of you ever have this happen?
Was waiting last week to get the call that the semen I ordered was in.
No call.
Finally called them on Friday, semen was suppose to be Wednesday, the guy didn't bother calling the supplier to tell them to ship it. :devil2:
So here I am waiting for it to come in, now due on Tuesday.
Cows got the CIDR in and the vet is pulling it tomorrow and giving her the second shot. He's hoping the semen comes in too.
Just one of those dang things. :?

Call the guy and request the tracking number so that you can monitor the shipment.
That way you will know when he shipped it and the delivery date.
Good luck.

man thats no fun.if the semen dont get there youll be another 21 to 28 days behind on breeding her.

Yes I have :devil2: I was extremely PO'd...

This last spring some girls were put with the bull instead of being AI'd as the semen I wanted was not approved to be imported into Canada yet. Funny thing was they were both Canadian bulls.

Now I am going to order my semen in the fall for when I need it in April.

I have to add that this has never happened to us with dairy semen though ,we always get what we want the day the rep comes to fill the tank or the next couple of days for sure.

I hope you get yours on time ,what a way to screw up all your planning. :(

That sucks for you I've been in the same boat too with some dairy semen that I brought, almost 12 months later I now have it in my tank. It would have been quicker if I had went & got it myself, top it off I was charged a handling fee. I don't mind paying the fee what really peeved me off was the fact it took so long to get here

Got the semen today.
Now the only thing that can make this just the most "perfect" AI is if the cow does not go into standing heat.
The vet had borrowed a tank from a friend of his. I took the tank into the semen place to get it charged and to get my straws. Found out that the "borrowed" tank did not have the cup holder for the straws. It was mainly designed for freeze branding or freezing warts.
Got a tank from the semen supplier. Now we just hope she goes into standing heat. Once we breed her I return the other tank with the second straw back to the supplier.
Well it should be better next year, because just about everything has gone wrong this year. :lol2:
Going to AI four head next year. Let the fun begin.

Going to be a late night.
Checked her last night and the patch was still silver. Checked this morning and it was bright orange
Called the vet and left messages (He was freeze branding horses) got a hold of him tonight.
Steers are riding her. They mount and she goes foward a couple of steps and then stands.
We are breeding at midnight. Good thing we are both night owls. :lol2:
Heifer bull is just going completely nuts in the pen near her. No he can't get to her.

Sounds like just one more reason to add to my list of why not to AI. Good luck with it. Oh, like my bulls are always saying, "add a person add a problem". ;-) :lol2:

Hope all went well last night ILH.
Speaking of heats ,Sunday the 20th one of my Holsteins came into heat and while I was deciding on what to breed her to one of my beef bulls got to her first. the little bugger jumped a five and a half foot panel to get in where I keep my Holsteins, last I saw him he was 1/2 mile away in the far end of the beef pasture. Needless to say I was very PO'd so she got a shot of estrumate on Monday ,it was 9 days later, and I bred her yesterday after seeing a very strong heat .
Those darn bulls, I guess he was bored because everyone else is already bred. ;-)

Jo, do your bulls talk to you often ? :lol2: :cowboy:

Everything went pretty well. Her cervix was open, so she was ready. Got her done.
Now I check her at day 17 and watch for heat. If no sign of heat then we are going to ultra sound her and make sure she is bred. :D

I'm a night owl Jo. Love being up at night. Was real pretty last night.
Was just difficult reaching the vet yesterday or we would have had her done earlier.

Yep , my first AI was just perfect. She didn't settle. Ah crud.
Put a CIDR back in and waited 8 days, pulled the CIDR and gave her the shot. That was on Tuesday night.
So far nothing. The patch is still silver. I check 3 times a day. In the morning, noon, and just at dark. Semen guy is also an AI tech, told me to check those 3 times a day.
She has a couple of steers with her. I just put one out and brought in a fresh one. No interest from those 2 boys.
I am wondering if we missed it. Seemed a little crazy, but the night we pulled the CIDR the bulls were up against the fence watching her and the steer was sniffing around her. Now nothing.
The way my luck is going we did miss it.
Well as bad as it has been this year it is great to know it will be better next year. Happens every time.

The only problem for us TN is it is hard to find Jersey bulls around here. If she doesn't settle this time she is going in with our Hereford heifer bull.
Patch was orange this morning. Called the vet. Hope we get it this time.
