Honda Makes A Pickup

Just don't park that Fix Or Repair Daily anywhere near a building.

I park it next to the front door of the cabinet shop every day. 197,000 miles, and nary an oil spot under it.

Just teasing you a little greenwillow --- the reference to parking near buildings was of course in connection with the huge Ford recall due to spontaneous fires via the cruise control wiring. A number of people in Houston have been featured on the evening news the last few days -- their garage, house, etc. burned down thanks to the Ford fire problem.

Yikes! I of course read about the recall, (and was glad we have a F250 instead of the 150) but hadn't heard any stories about the problem.

Are any of you lining up to buy the new Honda Ridgeline pickup? What is the world coming too? A Honda pickup. I'll stick to my Ford.

Just what the world needs another 1/4 ton truck

Dodge recently had a recall where the wheels were coming off I believe. Believe me, GM has their share too. Something that is to be expected with a brand new redesign. Remember the famous gas tank explosions?

Are you talking about the gas tanks on the PINTO'S? I'd better not admit to remembering that.. that will show how old I am! :(

Chevy trucks with the tanks on the outside of the frame.

Which was done as a safety deal to get them out of the cab which people bitched about being a safety hazard

Chevy trucks with the tanks on the outside of the frame.

Amazingly, those tanks would ignite when another vehicle hit the truck in the driver's side IF the NBC News crew also detonated an incendiary device in the tank by remote control during the crash. You can't be too careful, you never know when NBC News is after you :o

So, how many of you Honda bashers have a Foreman or Rancher 4-wheeler out in the barn? :D

Better be careful dissing the asian products - there's lots of guys running Kubota (jap) and Kioti (Korean) tractors on this board.

I can't say much - my John Deere came out of FRANCE.

It's kind of funny that japanese cars are being made in the US and US tractors are being made overseas

Just a little on who makes what.

Yanmar
Open the hood on any compact John
Deere Tractor and you'll find a Yanmar
engine(Deeres only saving grace). Also
the largerst diesel marine builder in the
world, Yanmar is Merc Cruiser. Yanmar
does not sell their engines for use in ANY
Chinese tractor, contrary to local
MISINFORMATION & false labeling. If they
did they wouldn't be so cheap and
unreliable. And have such a bad
reputation and be SO profitable to the
dealers.

Mitsubishi
Builds everything from electronics and
componants to International Harvester,
Case Int'l, Bolens, Satoh, White, Cub
Cadet, Mahindra, Montana, and others.

Iseki
Former builder of Bolens tractors, White
currently building for Massey Ferguson,
Agco and the Cat Challenger tractors.

Shibaura,
Formerly the builder of Ford's tractors
currently buiding for New Holland and
International.

Kubota,
Builder of their own tractors as well as
tractors for TYM, Mc Cormick, & the
Zen-Noh Farmers Co-op. Usually these
are tractors so similar to tractors labeled
for their own sale that you critical internal
parts will interchange, as well as most
service and maintenance parts. Sheet
metal and side labels often do not.

Kioti, AKA DaeDong
A quality tractor building company, they are
stand alone tractor builders in
Korea.Difficult to get parts, but the quality
often makes it worth the wait and hassle.

Branson
AKA Kukje, pronounced "cook-jee" Korean
based builder of extremely high quality
agricultural equipment for John Deere mid
size series, Cummins industrial diesel
division, and their American partner,
Branson

Honda Ridgeline, assembled (some of them at least) in Alliston, Ontario, Canada with a lot of North American parts. You bet I'd buy one, better than buying something assembled in Michigan

Most Ford pickups are made in KC, MO. We feel just the other way in the U.S. although I'd take a Canadian made vehicle as my second choice.
