Back in 2007 I started a thread intitled "Rusty Nuts"
viewtopic.php?f=16&t=36683&hilit=rusty+nuts
If anybody has tried it I sure would like to know if you have found a way to store it in a spray bottle. It has eaten up everything I have put it in except a tin can. I Like to spray it on but afterward the spray bottle is no longer good for anything. :help:

Pump oil can will not work as it will eat the washers and pumping mechanism out. Only thing that I have found that will work is an old oil can with the dimpled bottom that you push with your thumb. If its got a rubber washer it will leak but at least it will hold it. At this moment I have a steering column soaking in it. Maybe I can get the dam thing off tomorrow.

That's the results I had. If it's got rubber or plastic then it will be eaten up.
I've been using the Ketchup dispenser bottles from the dollar store and just emptying them back into the all metal acetone can when done. The side effect is that I get way to much where it shouldn't be, like on paint that it will remove.
The Grainger SURE SHOT may work. I'll try and find out If there are any rubber seals in them. I will also check with a seal manufacturer on seals that would not get eaten up.
I like rebuilding old machines and equipment and then putting it back to work so I use a lot of the home brew. Keeping it in the applicator would be a lot less time consuming and handier.

With the metal dimple can you still have a slight problem with the top seal but I wonder if you couldn't replace this with a cork seal. That stuff is wonderful.

I never thought of cork. To simple.
Thanks, I'll try it.

I looked up what o-ring material would work for acetone and hydraulic oil at work. Teflon seals had a high rating for both. If you could just replace the natural rubber washers with a teflon o-ring or maybe find a teflon piping gasket and cut new washers for your favorite metal can I think it would solve your problem.

Thanks. There is a teflon machine shop down the road. A good friend runs it. I will drop by and check out what he has.
