Just watched the NEWS,,, there was a campaign on for Hillary and others in the Elections, someone in the crowd said 'Hillary you get more beautiful each year, and good luck on the election' :?: and one of her negotiators said 'If she gets the vote and decides to go for office, she will be Americas first Lady President, as he is sure she will win' is that not a contradition of words, as I thought she already was once the First Lady and pulled most of Bill's strings. This time it will be official. Good Luck if this happens, as look what happened to us when we had a Woman Prime Minister, (Maggie Thatcher) the World does not seem to be ready yet for the Two great Nations to have Women in that much Power. Don't get me wrong I am all for women in the Government but it is still a prodominantly mans area.

A Hillary presidency probably wouldn't be the end of the world, but a whole lot of people think it would!

It might not be the end of the world (and I wouldn't even want to bet on that) but it would be an open the door to anyone who wanted to attack us policy with nothing more severe then wrist slap retaliation. We didn't get to be the strongest nation in the world by tolerating attacks on our homeland and property and we won't stay there if we do.

If I could put anyone in the whitehouse I wanted to right now my first choice would have to be Colin Powell.Z

Yeah MillIron :clap: :clap::clap::clap:

Noone who knows me will tell you that I can't get a wild hair stuck up my backside from time to time but... I had a theory about powellwhen Bush appointed him Sec of State. That was that the VP would end up retiring for health reason about a year into the second term and the president would appoint Powell as VP. After 3 years of the country geting used to that he'd be a shoe in for the presidency. To bad it didn't work that way.Z

I like Colin Powell, but I can't see us electing a black or woman president in the near future. Too many people would vote against them for those reasons. Lots of people say it wouldn't matter but what they do in the privacy of the voting booth would be another thing all together. Sad but probably true. JMHO

My vote is for Norman Schwartzcoff - I think we need someone with plenty of backbone! I could care less about Colin Powell being black, I think that he is a great American.

Colin Powell has a good solid reputation and NO desire to engage in the political arena. I don't blame him. We are awfully hard on our candidates. A lot of the best candidates don't want to put up with the spotlight. I know I wouldn't like explaining every little thing I ever did.
Next county over, a guy running for Commissioner was found owing $45 K property taxes. He was running as a "friend of the taxpayer".

I think you are right. Me I would vote for Powell or Condoleezza Rice that would really throw a wrench in things a black woman but better Condoleezza than Oprah as many would like to see.

Now as far as Hillary Clinton, my son told me he wanted to be something reallyyyy scary for Halloween this year. I thought about it and the scariest thing I could think of was for him to go as Hillary Clinton. But I did not want him getting shot at while tricker treating so we decided on the next scariest Nancy Pelosi

I wouldn't bet on that my friend. Powell would have caught both the black and the military vote and probably a good chunk of the hispanic votes just because he wasn't white. I can point to a lot of veterans who would agree with me.
As far as Rice goes. Don't cut her short. She has made her pro action stand pretty dern clear and if it came down to her or Clinton who would you and most of the people you know vote for?Z

I don't think Powell will catch that many black votes. He is not racist so the main stram blacks don't care for him, not enough to cross party lines anyway.

I told Van last night that if Colin Powell ran for president, I'd vote for him in a heart beat...and the same holds true for Swartzkopf, or however you spell it.

I am an independent...I vote the man//woman/agenda, not the party...contrary to popular belief.

Don't sell out the black voters that quickly...I would venture that most black VOTERS are more concerned in the country and the future of their children than they are Alex Haley's Roots.

Alice it is not about that. It is the folks like John Wiley Price. They won't support Powell, no way nada, and they have their own little pacs and voter blocks. Have you talked to blacks abuot Powell? They call him "their boy".

Do any of you think they could dig up any dirt on Hillary. Ken Star spent around 50 million and did not hang anything on her.

Why dig up dirt? Just let her loose campaigning for herself.

Heck, Bill was innocent too. That Monica thing never happened.

I agree, who cares if they have any dirt, question can she dig up anything good to make people vote for her?

I also agree that Powell would have a hard time with the Black Vote. Behind the curtain they might go and vote for him for historical reasons. But for sure when it comes to the Black Leaders there would be no support for him. They consider Bill Clinton more Black than Powell. When a strong conservative Black man comes along they say he is a sell out to the Race, I guess you are only allowed to be black and liberal in their eyes.

And, isn't it a shame that "digging up dirt" is now the way elections are run and candidates are chosen and voted for. I don't see how anybody, liberals and conservatives alike, gets the real job done anymore, for worrying about "digging up dirt."

In my opinion, the John Wiley Price's of this world don't draw that much water with real voters, the ones that actually go to the polls. The people you see out carrying the placards when he's in one of his snits aren't voters...they are screamers and whiners. I doubt the majority of them are registered to vote. They are just like the rest of the malcontents in this country who don't vote...white, black, brown, yellow, purple, pink, green...malcontents that don't vote cross all color and cultural lines, yet they have one thing in common...they'd rather get angry and complain, yet not take the time to study the candidates and cast their votes.

I still maintain that most black VOTERS are concerned about this country and will vote for whom they believe will maintain the integrity of this country.
