i've noticed in the descriptions of various sets of calves that are to be video auctioned the altitude of where they were raised is often mentioned..is there and advantage to a high altitude raised calf?

No, I don't think so. I think it is more of a warning that you don't want to take them to a low altitude condition to feed them out. I think there is a prolonged adjustment period.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. Heck it may be the opposite.

I think it only pertains if you are going to keep them in high altitude, which is what you want. But if your going to move them to low altitude you should know about it. High to low is OK, low to high takes some time to adjust.

I would think there would be some adjustment involved in moving from high altitude to low altitude, as well. It's harder to breathe in low altitudes if they are used to high altitudes, same as it's harder to breathe in high altitudes if they are used to low altitudes.

You get cattle raised on slopes with shorter front legs than back don't you ?

Easier to feed if they stand the right way up . Maybe it keeps the head low enough to avoid "altitude sickness"
