hereford with beefmaster?

I thought about something when I read bout those f1tigerstripes the other day. Half hereford (I like herefords) half brimmer (not for my climate in ohio). Could I get something that is more hereford and less brimmer, and still get some of the good effects?
Like breding my herfs to a beefmaster? Maybe it could turn out nice, with less ear and more hair? Meant as a maternal cross.

you can,, but unless you got a market for em, or dont mind a discount id concider this a brain fart
 
Rather use the other great cross with herefords, namely black angus, to have a herd of true black baldies.
 
in F1 is the key the is hybrid vigor and F1 angus x hereford would be better. for the steers would top the market and the heifers would make great replacemants as well. win, win.
 
That is a good maternal cross if your goal is to produce heifers that will make solid commercial cows.
 
IF I had Hereford cows I use a Black Angus bull, or In the deeper south a Black Brangus would by my frist choice,..

The heifers will be worth keeping, that is if you breed cattle, and the steers will feed out well, and eat good to....

I really wonder what a Balancer would do on them F-1's , like to see pictures of this cross.....please.....
 
I like the BeefMstr (obviously). But, Alacowman is probably right. For efficiency on pasture and good calving/mothering I would think it would work out fine. However, if you are in the traditional side of cattle, you will get "whacked" by the buyer(s)

Planning on crossing my BM bull to a Herf this year (if I can find a hereford or 2 at a reasonable price)...so, put me on the brain fart list as well :cowboy:
