Hereford Herds

I am interesting in knowing what people think about different herds and their strenghts.

If I wanted to find heavy muscled, moderate (4-5.5 Frame) herefords with good udder quality, where would I find that?

It seems a lot of herefords have udder issues and come from stock that apparently chased the bigger is better fad for a long time. I've seen Day Herefords in OK mentioned on here and like the looks of the Deewall bulls and like the looks of Coleman Herefords. Any thoughts?

Can you really say that any one breeder has a corner on good udders? I think most modern breeders are breeding for good udders and maternal qualities, in addition to a lot of other things.

Seems to me like one way to go is to look at bulls that have dams with good udders and sire cows with good udders and build your own. What you are looking for seems like what many others are looking for and many breeders are working towards. It seems to me like that is an obvious defect all breeders would be working to eliminate in modern Hereford herds. But what do I know, I'm an engineer. Jim

If you want to see some GOOD Herfs come down to Salida and pick me up, and we will go visit Ned Jr. He sold some bulls here last spring that were sure nice.

They might be a little more than 4.5-5. You would have to ask him about that.

What ya makin BA some red baldies?
 
Yep 3 Way, I like his cattle from what pics I've seen, especially his 320N bull. We bought 20 commercial and registered cows from a reputation herd, but udder quality appears to be an issue on some and this guy bought high dollar bulls from "good" herds. We are hoping to make some nice red baldy cows to keep and some to sell as replacements, maybe even keep a bull or two for my customers that want some F-1's.
