hereford heifer

She looks like a pretty heifer JHH.
Wondering about her left front foot though....Does she have some excessive toe growth there as opposed to the others, or is it just the picture?

Just goes to show that with all females I need to pay more attention to their feet, I was admiring her eyes. :)

She does have nice eyes Cabo! :pretty:
But uneven foot wear can be a sign of a problem in any female. :D

Dont really know how u call her unsound from pics. She is standing in frozen dirt and gravel . But whatever. She walks good and has never showed any signs of being unsound.

So I guess you didn't mean it when you said our "thoughts".
It is true, pictures can be deceiving.........

I really don't care much. I can judge cattle with best but I would never call a cow or bull unsound by looking at a pic. Now if you said she doesn't stand good on her toes yea I can buy that one. If you said I would like to see a stronger rear quarter , or she looks cat hammed. Them are all fine but I really don't think you can tell how sound she is by them pics.

I will get pics today sometime of her toes.

JHH can you take video? In your photo it appears that she is not putting her full weight on the front left leg.

So you post photos and ask for thoughts, and then tell us to not base our thoughts on the photos? What else do we have to go by?

And by the way, the photos are not good. Distorted views. Instead of a wide angle view, need to back up and zoom in. Cannot get good opinions from bad photos.

I think you have to be carefull what you see in a photo. Camera angles, lighting and just the way an animal stands makes a huge difference. In this case she may have a long toe, but it might be a case where the heifers left hoof is standing on a rock or hard spot causing it to push up and the right is sinking into the soft snow. I have seen it before. It would be a case that if I was interested in her I would have to check it out really close on sale day. Might even be a case that the picture scared others away and you could get a real bargain. Pictures are a good guide but are far from gospel.

One of my favorite questions to sale staff is "does the animal in question look like their picture"

We only have the pictures to go by and the responses have been correct. If your honest with yourself, you have to see the problem. If this does not represent her, why did you post it?

Ok lets start here. How do you tell if an animal is sound by a picture. That is what I am getting at. ( YOU CANT )
