I shouldn't blow my own horn but here's a Hereford bull I leased to Genex-pg 63 of the 2007 catalogue. I looked a long time to find a Horned Hereford bull to use on black heifers and I'm pretty sure this guy will work. I used his sire and maternal grandsire on heifers but there wasn't much semen left on either one. I'm a little different than most bull owners in the book as I'm a commercial outfit-we bred all oyr straight black heifers to him last year and they should start calving in a few weeks. I hope to make some good baldies out of him as his Mom is a really good footed and uddered cow. I like Angus cows but I like Baldie cows and Baldie steers in the feedlot just a little bit more.

He looks good. Might have to chat with our local rep.

Always looking for some new "local talent". 8)

We have used PDHR 9322 DOMINO 69G and KGA 75N STANDARD LAD 25W from Cutler with good results.

Had planned to buy a bull from him this year - two major transmission failures resulted in some unplanned and rather extensive / expensive repairs - new bull purchases are on hold for now.

What're straws running $$$ ?

If you are in that Meadow Lake area you are still in snow. Killed a few big deer and a couple of muzzle loader moose in your world in the 90's when we lived close by.

Miss that country big time.

Heck I'm a Genex Rep too lol. He's priced at $20 with no certificate price-I think the Hereford tradition of pricing semen skyhigh has done nothing but hurt the breed in the commercial market-you could always use the best Angus bulls going for $20 or so. There's still alot of snow here for sure. The deer hunting here is just phenomonal-my son got a 150 with his muzzie and a 157 with 7 inch bases with his rifle. I got a 163 and a school buddy got a 168 on my place. The best muzzie deer was a 230 some nontyp. a friend got. I'm sure Lad will work he was bred and raised in a pretty practical outfit-he looks pretty shiny in that pic after a summer in the A'I stud but he was raised pretty tough.

I know your country well - spent many years living there.

Your price comment is 100% spot on.

I figure we will pull in 10 or so straws for a tryout.

Cattle out of that country tend to hold up well in the field.

We are not proponents of cake, cake and more cake to keep them fat.

They eat grass and live - or they eat grass and get shipped.

Just emailed the country HQ to find out who the local rep is - if there is not one I have the person for the job very close by.

We are a very long ways from you - but if you want to do the job - jump on a plane and come visit (you buy the ticket :D ) - a bed, steak and beer is always available.

Saw some of the first Lad calves on the ground this weekend-we random bred a few Angus/Simm heifers at my nephews last year and they spit out their calves with no trouble this spring. These heifers had a bit of BW behind them too.
