These are the kids we sponsored this year with our foundation, This picture is from April but they just finished at county a week ago. It was a great year as far as kids learning and growing. The young man with the Hereford looking steer is 9 and it was his first year showing beef, he did a great job and is now hooked on showing cattle, his brother with the red and white heifer on the left loves showing the heifers, which allows him to show his goats, He was Reserve champion at county with his goat. The young lady with the tag 18 calf, won our county fair and will be going to Madison Wisconsin to study Dairy science and Pre Vet. The Young lady with the tag 12 calf was with us last year as well, she puts everything into her beef projects, she has done an excellent job with her steers each year, and has really grown as a showman. It is so much fun helping kids out who really do the work and enjoy being around and working with the animals.
My own oops, Just prior to the fair this year I was feeding cows and tried to rock a round bail onto its side, I have done it without issue over and over, this bail was a little loose and as I was rocking it to get it to flip, I heard what sounded like a 22 shot, then instant pain. Well it was my Achilles tendon, so 2 weeks post surgery and 6 weeks to go before I can start working on it.
