I was selling a steer this past weekend and noticed that he had what appeared to be a hemorrhoid. I didn't take any pictures and went ahead and sold him so I have no way of showing you what it looked like. I have a couple questions, 1 what caused it? 2 what is the treatment? 3 will this generally affect sale price? It did not affect price here but it was a special deal. I go to the barn whenever I sell to "stand behind" my cattle as I did this time. With this steer, he belonged to my 4 year old son and I made him stand up to "stand behind" his steer. I'll just say that two buyers (one of which had bought some of my steers) took off on his steer and he sold very very good compared to others of like kind.

I didn't give enough information the first time sorry. It wasn't a prolapse. It was 1-1/2 inches from the anis. It was about as big around in diameter as a roll of quarters and about 6 inches long and almost touched on both ends making a "c" shape. It was not "hanging" but seemed to be attached by skin the full length. If you could bend a roll of quarters in a "c" shape and insert them just under the skin that what it looked like of that’s at least the best I can describe it.

Maybe I should have said "represent" instead of "stand". I did make my son stand up so people could see who the floor man was talking to as he is less than 4' tall.

I agree that is what it looked like but how can a prolapse be that far from the anis. I had this calf in the shoot and it was not coming out of the anis. It was "level" witht he anis but off to the side.
