help on picking out a heifer

im getting my first heifer this january for the august fair in ventura county and i was wondering if anyone can help me on how to pick out a heifer? all the advice will be greatly appreciated

I would recommend that you do not go by yourself. Ask your ag teacher or the county extension agent to tag along. If they are unavailable, then you need to be honest with the breeder of the cattle. Ask them which one is best for showing. Most of the breeders we have dealt with are more than willing to discuss the strengths and weakness of the heifers that we are looking at. However, if you don't ask, many will assume you know what you are doing.
