I like this one so far.
If you only have a limited number of straws of what you consider to be the best bull for the mating, with no more available, and you consider the breeding to be what you are shooting for, do you factor in that a heifer might not give you full potential on first calf?

18 mos, plan to AI 5/15/13 @ 21 mos

Good heifer, the genetics is still the same, only the conditions the calf was raised in will differ between heifers and mature cows and that you can address with feed after weaning. (if you feel you absolutely have to)

I've got scant few ampules of some old foundation bulls and one in particular From 1963 that from a gentleman that knew the bull well, stamped his offspring wide and long with a little less leg.
I figure this heifer is closer to where I'm headed.
I don't buy much feed anymore but if a little helps make up for a heifer bag...I'll PM you next year for ration suggestions. ;-)
