Just had the vet palpate the herd. As he deemed one of the heifers as open, he asked how big her last calf was. He had a pretty surprised reaction when we told him she was a heifer, no calves yet. He said her uterus wasn't right, but stretched out, as if she had carried a large calf. Just curious as to what would cause this? Genetics? She was AI'ed with no pasture exposure (our fault).
We paid a little more than we should have for her, so she's getting a second chance and is turned out with the bull for a bit to see if nature will run its course, but will probably be shipped out next spring.
