That ration's going to be seriously lacking in nutrition. Buy some type of formulated feed with better protein/amino acid profile and good mineral/vitamin fortification.

Ok thats good to know. We use kent feed what do they have long those lines that would work. Thanks again

kent has a product(actually made by evergreen) called wiining fill. and when you feed it and some of their calf grower the heifers will do pretty good. but for heifers i would definatly recomend Kalmbach Feeds, and high noon heifer developer

So are you on the Eastern side of Kansas. It seems like it wouldn't be that far of a drive to Bird City. It's only like three hours or so away from where I am located so we just call Nick up and tell him what we need.

If you are only feeding a few (less than 10) it may be more economical to purchase a complete ration. There are several good feeds out there. Purina Show Chow is good (kind of expensive), Acco makes some good show feed also. Any premixed feed ration that will achieve 12 to 14 percent protein and about 5% fat will work well for you. Make sure there is plenty of mineral in it and make sure you keep some roughage available.
