I heard the most awful commotion last night down by the barn and I could tell my red heeler Boaz was into it with something after a few minutes of growling, barking and carrying on he came up and laid on the porch. I didn't think much about it until this afternoon I noticed that he was sporting a chewed up nose and some pulled out shoulder hair. Down by the barn I found a dead boar coon tore all to pieces. I could tell by the blood, hair and scuffed ground it was quite a battle. Boaz is no worse for wear. The side of his nose is a bit raw but he wasn't hurt. It just amazes me how tough those heelers are. Not many mid-sized dogs will take on a ticked off boar coon and come out the winner without much damage. I would have liked to have witnessed that fight. :cowboy:

Ill give you that, they are tough as nails and solid muscle
The one I had was very protective of his people and property

He only had 2 puppy shots cause by the time the third on was due he knew what it was and would bite your arm when he saw the shot
One time when he was 6 or 7 I grabbed him by the scruff of the neck to correct him for not listening to commands when we were working cattle.
He growled and snapped at me and after that I understood we were both men and we discussed things like men
After that a some harsh words and a butt chewing did the trick and I kept my hands to myself
He was hardheaded and didn't really work like I wanted but at that time I had a big ole rough sandy place out west towards NM and he was the one that could handle that country and tough cattle
I sure miss him
This was him on that place

The only picture of Boaz I can remember was when he was just a pup
I think it was him and little Hoss
He is 1.5 years old now. I will have to post another pic. He is built wiry for a heeler. Very athletic and loves action. I use him to get cows out of the woods. He also watches my back when I need it.

I got a picture on my old phone I néed to capture that I got here a few years ago of a flatbed full of dogs in Hawaii " going to work". Anybody remember that pic?

Yep. Fortunately he was in bed sound asleep. Knowing him he would have tried to jump in and help Boaz fight the coon. :lol2:
