People say "but winter is a quiet time". It was until we became cow hoarders...





Earlier today we sorted one big bunch of cows into two groups for winter feeding. Have one more sort to do and then we will be on a set routine until they all come home for calving.

Back in September when we knew we weren’t going to get all we grew made into feed I went for a road trip and bought 600 tons. Most from two brothers who were old friends. One of them had been fighting cancer for several years and told me he might not be able to help load. He was right. Glen died a month ago.
