Hay Tractor Poll

While mowing today,I got to thinking about the different tractor brands and how the field has changed.Wondered what people are doing now that used to use strictly AC, Oliver,Minneapolis Moline etc.
Made me think of polling to see what is used for hay on this board.

Ford 861 gas (retired)
Ford 4600 Diesel
Ford 5000
Ford 6640 SL
Ford 7600 ( to be back in fleet later)

Our tractor fleet that I remember over the years was all John Deere except for one tractor. .... Dad had a Cyclone B. Next he added a propane 530. Next came a 730 Diesel. Traded it in on a 4010 then a 1490 case. Then we bought a 2955 and last a 2350. The Cyclone B was the only new paint. I suspect their must have been some earlier models my Grandfather owned but I don’t know what the were. My uncle had a spoke rimmed B that possibly could have been his. Prior to that it was horse drawn equipment to bale hay.

I have almost posted a pic of my hay fleet a time or two, to show people you don’t have to spend a lot of cash to make hay. About $24,000 in two tractors, cutter, tedder, rake, and roller.

A cabbed tractor is the only way that I can deal with the dust. My sweetie has claimed the 3020 as her tractor for raking and to tedder with.

Case Maxxum 110 (loader), rakes, mows, and loads
Case 5240 (loader) mainly runs the mower, but also rakes and runs tedder on occasion.
We also have a smaller Branson that is used to rake and ted occasionally.

Does the AC work good on the 3930? THose make a nice tractor for the mountain/valley land around here.

Yes it does very good. It was a VDOT tractor we bought it at the surplus action about 4 years ago. My dad painted it blue because it was orange. It’s a pretty good tractor but could use alittle more power.

Must have been a heck of a job to paint it and not have orange showing all over the place!
