I just finished this project late last week. This demonstrates that I am not always being silly. I hope dun finds it interesting and that someone cares.
This is where I plan to set out my rolled hay should I need to feed hay. I hope I don't have much use for it but if I do, they won't be in a foot of mud. I plan to clean it on a regular basis and put the waste on the hay field.
It is constructed with a base of #2 limestone gravel. I just tried to spread it so that it covered the ground but in many places it was thicker. The #2 is choked off with mine-run waste. It comes from limestone/marble mine that is all underground. Very interesting geology but I won't go into that as dun would say, "Who cares".
The benefit to the waste-run is that it sets up like concrete. I have used it as the floor of my quonset hut steelmaster building in the background and for a driveway around my hay barn. BTW, mine waste run is free but it costs $150 to get it hauled. The #2 is expensive.
