I am asking for a neighbor. He was wondering what nice alfalfa grass hay was selling for in different areas. He specifically mentioned 800 lb bales. Also per ton price. If you can mention your general area and prices post it here. I am not sure what he plans but I said I would post here. We have had a pretty good hay year here in Minnesota. Thanks farmguy

All over the map. $175/ton or $7/bale weighing 65 lbs. canyon County Idaho (near Boise). I'm selling my grass hay at $170/ton.

I see 2 cutting alfalfa in 3x4 bales out of Haines for $135 a ton. Some for $125. Alfalfa barley mixed for $95.

People to poor to grow alfalfa around here. Mountain hay $60 a ton with 13% protein.

Round here that will barely pay the cut, rake and baling.

Best hay year we've had in a log time. I can buy 900 lb rolls of high quaity, well fertilized, sprayed for 25-30 bucks a piece.

We've had so much rain this year that people are already starting to try and dump a bunch of excess hay. I've seen it for 25 bucks for good 4×5 net wrapped, barn kept.

I have been selling good 4x5 mixed grass hay barn kept for 35$ a roll. But the only people buying it are those crazy horse people. I have seen 4x5 rolls for sale around here for as low as 20$ a roll. There's lots of hay for sale but most of it isn't very good quality.

I heard a guy in the feed store asking for horse hay the other day. Or at least I thought he was. Turned out he was asking for someone named Jorge.
