One on left is a 2009, missed calf this year and i saw in heat 3 times.. Black aborted her calf in Jan. and got really sick but has been putting weight back on the last couple months. Looks skinny here, but she's not. She's a 2000. The red is a 1999 cow, didnt calve and doesnt get another chance.

No one is going to know just how old that light red cow is. She looks very young for her age and she still has teeth. I bet she'll bring a bunch. We wont have her palpated, could be 2 months bred...could be open. The darker red will bring a lot because she's pretty, she's young and fat and but open because i saw the bull breeding her a few days ago... Who knows about the black, she doesnt really look as old as she is either...just a little thinner than the other two. I saw the bull breeding her too just a week ago
Husband bought skid steer, so those prices better hold for weaning time..lol...

Pretty surprising results. I figured the younger dark red would have brought more than all....but and the other red brought in about the same and they weighed about the same.... old 1200+, young 1300+... The black on was heavier and brought the most, 1450.... I really had it backwards. Glad i didnt have any bets on it. Couldnt be happier though. Any day you get that much for an old open cow is a good day, hope this trend holds.

thats about what they shouldve brought.so you got some good money for them.
like forever, an old open cow you'd be lucky to get 400 at the most.
I wished i had hung onto the younger one though. I was surprised she didnt bring more considering she looked the best out of the 3 and was younger. She was a nice cow and someone may get her settled. I just didnt like that she was open all winter and still open now. She should have been one of the first bred when we put the bulls in.
If prices hold, we will cull any old cow who isnt holding her condition if this is what they will bring at the sale. I know of around 15 i want to sell.

Blk sim cow 1200, red sim cow 1130, younger angus/brangus red 1155...averaged $ 117.09
Good lick....that's about $.25 a pound more than what they would have brought out this way at this way being thin like they are. Open cows just about always go to packing houses.
