Has Anyone in Drought Area Noticed Anything Like This

There were several reports of stolen hay around here last year. Also know of some folks who turn into their non-resident, neighbors fields when they need more pasture.

Knowing how sparsely populated that part of New Mexico is, the story doesn't surprise me at all.

Drought area ( means nearly half the country)
Yep. we have seen hay thefts around here.. I havent had any of mine stolen, but know of some people who have.

I did hear of a guy that had to leave a guard in his field full of sq bales he didn't get picked up the same day he baled it in 2011.
Around here, the old timers just tend to open their own fences and let cattle "run the bottoms" along the river when grass gets sparse.

Didn't really hear about any theft last year (except frequent and loud highway robbery claims of course when the same round bales went from $45 to nearly $100 in a matter of months) I was surprised there wasn't any killins over the hay situation here last year.

Some areas in Central Texas had a unwritten rule where the Police were suppose to pull over anyone moving hay at night with one of those forks on the back of your pickup. You learn pretty quick not to leave hay close to the road.
