Hard Bag

My milk cow calved over a week ago. Really looked engorged. Found clots in her milk on Sunday immediately treated her with the Masti Clear I had on hand. Called our vet and got some other stuff from him to go into the teats. Treating all 4 quarters as a precaution.
Going to hit her with 14cc Excede today.
The worse quarter was the right rear. Sat behind her massaging and stripping that quarter for quite awhile at each milking. Have always had trouble getting that quarter to fully milk out.
Vet is concerned she might have a form of staph infection in there so when I go to dry her up we are going to use a different dry cow med.

Any thoughts on how to prevent this in the future?

i dont know how to prevent cake/swelling or eddema in her bagg.if my memory is right this her 2nd or 3rd calf.just keep milking her an treating her.are you still getting clumps out of her bagg.

3rd calf. Still getting clumps. Sat behind her and massaged her bag until my hands cramped up. Bag is feeling softer though.

as long as your getting clumps out an bagg is softer thats good.itll just take time to get it all out.cant beat another heifer calf its all good.

No clots yesterday. Hubby did not hit her with the Excede so I hit her last night. Can still feel some hardness between the front and rear quarter on her right side on the bottom of her bag.
Read the label and there was NO WAY I was going give her a shot behind her ear and risk a possible broken arm. Hit her SQ in the neck instead. Vet said that was fine.
