i noticed my beefmaster heifer was bagging up.an i knew it wouldnt be long fore she calves.well she calved tues nite or wed morning.an she had a black calf the 1st homebred reg beefmaster.so simba has his 1st reg calf on the ground.im hoping to see if its a bull or a heifer.when i can get close enough to see.so that means 3 cows with calves.1 of the calves is ready to wean.waiting on 3 cows to calve.will be most likely 3 or 4 months fore they calve though.

i figure its a bull.since her 1st calf was a heifer.i really figure ill have 6 bulls this year.have 2 bulls now.an have 3 more to calve ion the next 3 or 4 months.

We are having our first homebred calves in a few weeks. That IS a special thing.

We have had only bulls born on our farm ~ so I am keeping my fingers crossed for some little heifers this time. Of course they will be terminal due to their idiot father, but it will still be fun ~ yes?

Congrats and good for you!

all calves are fun.just the 1st homebreds are fun to see.they will be reged with my breeder name if they are good enough.heifers make me alot more money because i sell them as replacements.ive got 2 bulls that will sell this year.

seems like i'm having a lot more heifers this year.

Me too Beefy, 4 to 1 ratio so far, and they don't finish off as well as the steers. I am trying to sell all my steers off the farm for freezer beef. I guess a few will have to be heifers.

i tryed to get a good look at the calf yesterday evening.an it looks like a heifer.but my old eyes could be wrong.she is marked up just like her momma.
