Will someone that understands these numbers glance at it real quick and tell me how much I can haul ? I know some and probably most will exceed these at times but I would like to know what I'm rated for

F250 6.7 diesel SRW GCWR = 23500 / max loaded trailer weight 15,900

Info for deckover gooseneck GVWR = 20,000 lbs / trailer weight 6,200 lbs / net payload 13,800 8k tandem axles 16 ply radial tires
 
Perhaps less, since the truck is heavier...

From my understanding, GVWR is the max weight you can have on the rear axles (GVWF is for the front)... you can't exceed either.. and then you have the axle ratings of the trailer which can't be exceeded either, or the tongue weight.

Also, you can't exceed the load rating on any tire (this is where a dually has an edge)

Also, your insurance on your TRUCK has to be at least the combined weight of BOTH the truck and trailer, loaded.
Around here, if the trailer is more than 4500KG or 10,000 lbs, you ALSO need an endorsement on your license
ALSO, if you want to put your truck's GVW above 8800KG (20,000 lbs), you need an NSC number
Also, if you're above 20,000 lbs, you need to get periodic inspections, etc etc etc.. (mostly exempt for farm vehicles)


They really really try hard to make it impossible to abide by ALL the laws! Your best bet is to go to a scale and ask them.. don't trust your insurance agent!!!

It's the suspension, brakes and tires that should dictate what the GVWR should be not the gears.
 
Hey now ! All I did was post what furd data I found . load capacity and towing capacity are 2 different things. The theory I assume is gears increase pulling power therefore you trailer can be loaded heavier that would have very little impact on the actual suspension on the truck

I think M-5 has posted the answer and if you still think gear ratio has nothing to do with towing OR hauling capacity I've got some dry land in Florida to sell you. It's right next to M-5 :lol:
