In about 2 weeks I will be getting about 20 350-400# heifers, some may be weaned, some may not. I grind my own feed, what would be the best to mix in the feed for optimum growth and weight gain. Not a newbie at this would just like to hear some others opinions and thoughts.

What is the end use of the heifers going to be bred or fed?

We brought in 400lb steers 10-16-06 and they are going to the sale 1-5-07 at 640lb. We have been feeding a chopped mix 47% barley hay(10.5CP, 110RFV) and 53% alfalfa(20.2CP, 170RFV). It cost us about $0.30/lb of gain. These are crossbred steers that are implanted with Synovex C and free choice bronze right now mineral cut 50% with trace mineral salt.
