Grey I think you mentioned that your bridges don't have rails or something like that. The one down the street from my house has rails they have only been on the bridge since 1932 lol

I have always liked going over bridges that you can hear the boards going bump, bump, bump as you drive over. Sounds sort of "real", if you get what I mean.

It is the high ones I have trouble with.

Daulpin islands Al... get the butterflies crossing it. got to look straight ahead

you got that right. I think if not mistaken like 40 bucks each way you cross that bridge. We even have a bridge here that some british company bought and are screwing us by going up on price every month almost. How did VA sell a bridge i'll never know.

Not as many of those kind of bridges here as there used to be but still some on the county roads. I like the bump-bump-bump too, but I have seen a couple where a board was missing, and it made a BIG bump.

Back in my oilfield days, I was on a job down in South Texas on the coast south of Matagora. Rig was on the O'Connor ranch, and the road (private) crossed a deep arroyo with a rickety old wooden bridge--just some 4x4s nailed down flat for edge railing. We all went to town one night, got a little drunk, and when I drove back around midnight, found it had rained hard upstream and that old wooden no-rail bridge was under a rolling torrent of water about 10 inches over the approach. I drove on across (like a dumaxx) , aiming for the road on the other side. When I woke up sober the next morning, I thanked Him upstairs for looking after one more idiot--that bridge could have been completely missing for all I knew. I ain't never forgot how stupid that was.

There are 2, like the one skyhigh posted, right by our place. One we have no choice but to drive over if we want to leave the 'hollow' and the other one runs sort of parallel to our place with no rails, it will take you to the 3 homes up that way.

It is the high ones I have trouble with.

My oldest brother has a phobia about bridges.....of any size. Good thing he doesn't live around here.
