Grazing oats

Will be turning the cows out on some oats that just started seeding. Anything I should be thinking about?
 
I've done it in the fall time with no problems.. I don't think oats have any danger.

I'd give them as small a paddock as possible, they'll squash it all down and not want to eat it if it's too big a place

Yeah I'm planning on strip grazing it

We usually keep some hay out when grazing lush winter oats. But if they're going to seed there should be plenty of fiber.

I may put some hay out but I'm not sure how much they will eat it with all the lush oats

They will eat some just to settle their stomachs. Kinda like a dog eating grass. Put out out some cheap hay. They will nibble around on it and will help keep them from bloating.
 
If they are on green grass currently, there shouldn't be much worry in transitioning. Tramping is going to be your biggest problem.
 
Just put them on the first strip. Then a very sudden thunder storm came up got them all worked up and through the lead wire they went

They were at another location and that just how it worked out with moving them around
 
At that point they may eat them or they may not be interested in them depending on what else they have available.
