I saw this grass at mamaws growing in with her cannas. Some stalks are six foot tall. It looks like a fescue but ive never seen any this tall before. Seed heads look almost purple.

Looks like grease grass to me aka purple top. Grab it below the seed head and slide your hand up past the seed head. If it's grease grass you'll have a greasy feeling in your hand.

Yep, we call it purple top. Daughter had to learn it for when she was on the National Grasslands Judging team.... and we have it here on our place.

Thats it i think. I was looking for nutritional information on it but I couldnt find anything. I like learning about the different grasses and weeds in the field so when I look out there I know whats growing.
