When I started dating some years back (ok, way back ) my gran pulled me aside and gave me some advice. She told me to take note on how the young man treats his vehicle as this would be the way he would treat his wife one day. I must say it did not mean much to me at the time but as I got older I started observing the state other people's vehicles and compared it to their relationships - she may just have been right.
I believe it works both ways, it doesn't necessarily have to be the way a man treats his vehicle but also applies to the way a woman treats hers.

Consider the state of your vehicle (inside and out) compared to your relationship with your partner , do you think there is any truth in this? I know I have a little bump on the rear fender that I've been meaning to have repaired for a while now :shock: :lol: .

Maybe
my trucks are usually drty on the outside and a need a little cleaning on the inside,not much just a little dusting and throw a bottle or two out
but I try and keep them in good mechanical shape and keep the maintenance done on them
I would rather have a vehicle that is used and in good shape internally than one that is clean and flashy and will break down on the way to town
so I guess you could compare the 2
I had a wife that was flashy but she broke along the way and I was always doing maintenace $$$$$$$$$
I now have a beautiful wife that I adore and love with all my heart and she works with me everyday and as long as I do the important maintenace she never gives me any problems

Mine was Flashy and Easy everyone wanted to take a drive and she was willing

Maybe I shouldn't have spent all that money on the chrome accessories
New grille
Enlarged front bumpers
and a few other things
HE77 for what I spent I could of bought a new truck and then I wouldn't have minded if my friends drove it :lol: :lol:

That maintanence is vital. I knew of a guy that hardly ever checked his oil etc until one day his car siezed on him - but then mind you, the day his first born arrived he was sitting in a pub with his pals :shock:.

I don't know about that in the current times as vehicles are probably thought of differently. No doubt how they are kept does say something I guess. But right now mine is filthy...we have actually had enough rain to make :shock: mud :shock: ...but I'm not expecting a date anytime in the near future either. (and if I do get to make that road trip I'm seriously thinking about hiring a driver for the evening since I know nothing about the town). But my truck is in good working order and only takes the detail guy about 2 hours to get it "respectably clean". :lol: Dirty trucks are the norm out here in the country when you use them for everything you do. But I think you are spot on about the two way street...How I treat the woman I am interested in is heavily weighted to the way I'm treated.

Can say when I had two vehicles- one for work and one for play - I kept the one for play clean.

I know a couple that recently got married. The woman always told us what a perfectionist her man was. When driving in his vehicle she said she could never feel comfortable as it always felt like he was watching and waiting for her to make a wrong move. He would gripe about a speck of dust, a scratch, the way she sat etc. I must say his vehicle is in excellent condition. To cut a long story short, they are now married and she is being treated the same way in his house, says she can't move without him monitoring her :shock: Yikes! how sterile....

Then the other side of the coin... There is a woman that stays in the area that drives a really clapped out vehicle, apart from the vehicle falling apart, the inside and outside of the vehicle is filthy (not good clean mud from a storm). She treats her husband and kids the same disrespect. Her life is falling apart like her car. Please I am not judging her, only using her as an example.

:lol: Can't believe that still came thru...even after I edited and added "vehicles"! Thought that patched it up. Dang!

Kidding aside...I'm pretty sure I'd be the one mistreated if any realtionship ever made it that far.

Which truck are you referring to? Before or after the 5 granbabies go for a ride? What about her new one? I always buy her the top of the line. I buy me the working version. No easter egg paint job trucks for me.

Sorry...Don't paint that picture with broad stokes either...Don't get me wrong, I had a good hearted Mom. I just never really knew I was on the recieving side of it and few were ever introduced to her! Course few were ever introduced to any of my family members. There is a reason I'm as screwed up as I am.

That works with my sister...except the looks part. Mom was cute and Dad was handsome. Don't know what happened to their kids! :shock:

Well, hubs and I both keep pretty messy vehicles, but he always lets me do the driving!
He's the best man I know - otherwise I wouldn't have married him.
