gps sprayer

We have multiple JD auto steer units, they are absolutely wonderful. Works very well with newer auto track ready tractors. For the price of it, it would be very hard to justify them without a rowcrop operation like us.

We used to use a outback light bar for spraying and fertilizer. It doesn’t compare to auto track, but is a major step up from just winging it. It is easy to instal, and can be moved tractor to tractor very easy. I have even used it on the utv’s when spreading seed. I’m not sure on cost, but they can’t be terrible outrageous.

This is what we used to have.

For that price, the overlap savings and increased productivity would pay for it quickly

Hurley, the Rains County agent in Emory is a friend of mine. He bought one to use on his and his brother's place to help spray weeds. Give him a call tomorrow @ 903 473 4580. He will shoot straight with you. By the way he is about as tight as ol' Caustic.

I use an ez guide 250. I have had it a number of years so the new ones may be updated. I use the visual paint the pasture technique probably more than the lights. It works very well when using it with things that have a wide path like sprayers and fertilizer slingers. It gets somewhat harder to follow with a small implement like a 6' no till drill even with the zoom feature.

My only real complaint is that after about 50 acres it seems like it runs out of memory and the screen starts blinking and some of the painted area goes on and off. Its not a big problem for me as most of my paddocks are smaller than that and the larger ones I just split them in two at some kind of landmark.

There are videos of it in use on utube. As T & B said, they do pay for themselves somewhat and keeps you from having so many missed strips when spraying. I use the acre counter feature when seeding to help determine if I am putting out the correct amount. I would be lost without this unit or something similar.

The Rozell company in Tyler Texas manufacturer a lot of spray rigs. They show on their website a unit that actual has a camera and what you see is the field in front of you. To expensive for my budget. Most of their units are from tee jet.

If you want something cheap to give a try. You can go with this app in conjunctive with a Garmin (or others) GPS receiver antenna.
It won't be the most accurate, but better than eyeballing it.

I live in Van Zandt County. We are ok, but the city of Canton took a hit yesterday afternoon. Storm started between Kemp and Mabank and headed toward Grand Saline.

I am glad to hear. Yes, not good for Canton. It's been a few years but if I recall correctly, they got hit a while back too.

My mother was born and raised in Emory. At one time, in the late 30s, my father share cropped some land that is now under Lake Fork. Cotton and ribbon cane. Most of my family on my mother's side are buried in the Yantis cemetery, including my maternal grandparents, great grandparents and great great grandparents.
Still have relatives living and raising beefmaster cattle not too far from HurleyJD (maybe 12 miles) and he and I are, by marriage, distantly related.
While I'm on the subject, I have met JD and tho we may sometimes have differences of opinions on politics, I know him and his family to be and always have been as honest and hard working as anyone else in Texas.
