I sent 3 heifers through the auction. Average weight was 613 lbs. $1.75 was the lowest and $1.81 was the highest.

I feel so guilty for gouging :D

You should feel guilty. I sold my calves last fall and didn't get nearly that much. I think you should send me a check to even things out. That would make both of us feel better.

Okay! :D

There were not many at the sale. I talked to a guy who attended and he said there were only about 20 cows that came through. "No one is selling cows."

Mine went near the top of the band for prices yesterday.

I've got two older cull heifers to sell. Thinking of dumping them this upcoming week.

I've got two culls, that probably ain't got enough teeth in both their mouths to fill one, that I need to ship and thinking next week also.

I sold two old cows (over 16 yrs old ) about 3 weeks ago.. got over .60 a lb for each of them. never in my life have I gotten that much at a sale barn for old cows.

The three that went yesterday weren't. They were commercial gals - mostly brangus bloodline. Hay is getting short and I was not all that pleased with their looks.

The other two culls I've got - one survived the drought culling last year because of who her dam was. Everything out of that dam is fertile as all get out. This one aint. I got to checking and she was darn near 3 years old and has not had a calf. Bad management on my part. She's going. The other one is about 27 months and doesn't look anywhere close. I have not palpated either. Intended to before I shipped them so they did not go. Now decided to let 'em go. I'll have them preg checked at the barn and sell them for what they are.

Not gouging at all. Just how today's market is. A month ago they would have brought less....a month latter and they might also bring less....good lick. ;-)

The cow's dried up here as well they were selling about three weeks ago and I wouldn't pull the trigger.
We are floating over here got another 3 inches today, not complaining at all just hope we are still getting some in July.
One extreme is usually followed by another. We are going to make one or two cuttings of hay if it quits raining right now.

Went to the local auction today very light run. Quality was very poor price for what was there was high and very high on anything that will make hamburger. I am thanking there are very few cattle left to be sold.
Due to the very worm winter we are good on hay and not in any hurry to sell, but when I remember the times greed go into the back pocket is it smaart to hold?

Visited with a friend on the phone last night. He had sold 10 cows this week that were all open but in good shape. Averaged $89.50 a hundedweight on them so close to $1300 each.

you did real good getting those prices.no need to feel bad about it.ive got 2 angus x beefmaster heifers im going to cull as soon as it drys up.plus i have 2 herd bulls i need to sale an get a new herd bull.
