Plow trucks met their match on Tuesday morning. Got about 18" on Monday here. Lots of them got stuck clearing the highways. This one was doing the highway beside my uncle's place, a mile south of Lake of the Woods. Cousin took the video of uncle snowblowing a path to the truck and the picture of another cousin who pulled the truck out with skidder and plowed the road in front of him.

That same cousin in the skidder, drove home Monday night, and said he slammed through lots of drifts over the height of the hood of his diesel. Didn't think he was going to make it home.

What did you get out of that storm Steve? I haven't seen LazyA on here, she might be completely snowed in. I heard her area got 20".

Yep...82 today as we speak. getting some much needed rain. Like I have said before, I dont see how you all stand all that cold, snowy weather up there.

Yea I would move if I were up there snow (was) in moderation.

I think Aaron is trying to scare off the speculators looking for cheap land.

No, but I would like to be a fly on the wall in the homes of these outsiders that bought farms around here, that came from a land with no only less snow, but with periods of warmth during the winter that actually makes it disappear, or at least become bearable.

I don't like those messy thaws, and I sometimes brag that we avoid any summer slump in central MN due to the shortness of that season - - but is land still a good deal land if covered with snow almost the entire year? We may need to calculate a snow free days per acre $ metric before the land rush starts.

It's a good deal when you don't need to worry about water supplies, which can't be said for every province, or state in the union.

Forget Keystone Oil. California should have built a water pipeline to the Great Lakes 10 years ago.

I always heard FL. had great weather and friendly people. Here in middle GA. The weather stinks it's as bad or worse than up north. And the people are really mean.

You poor folks. Why don't you all come down and visit me and Hook. It will hit the 90's here on Saturday.

Waaay too hot for me. I have to sit in the shade with a cool drink if it gets over 60 F..
I don't like it to be under 70.
Been a disappointing last 3 months ain't it?

It sure has.

yipes, that's a lot of snow for this time of year..

I can hardly remember ever having 18" on the ground at once here.. not in the last 20 years anyhow... the most we get is about 4-6" at a time, with the occasional dump of 10".

I don't like the messy thaws either, especially when they don't run through the entire cycle and you end up with snow on ice, on snow. I bought chains for all 6 tires on my dually, I should be able to move in pretty much anything we're likely to see, and then got some cable chains to put on the trailer should I ever need to get it moved in the winter.

Six to eight inches forecasted for tomorrow. Time to ride the snow mobile again !

We might get an inch of snow tonight. I didn't look at the temp but last night got pretty chilly. Neighbor lady said 18 degrees at their house this morning. Winter just ain't quite done with us yet.
