A remington model 7600 pump chambered for a 30-06... Dads is the same, except lder, and a .308, but I like mine better.... has a little more bark. lol. We're going to sight it in tomorrow, and I am pumped (No pun intended) lol. On the .270 I demoed there it was engraved with wildlife on the side of the chamber.... beautiful, but mine is plain, and I like it that way, cause I like to be ordinary .

Mebbe I'll get some pics tomorrow. Im not using a scope for this year, because Im going to learn without it, since I already know how to shoot a rifle with a scope..... We leave for elk on Oct. 29, come home the 6th, mulie hunt from the 6th-18th, and whuitetail hunt from the 18th-Dec. 3..... Gonna have a blast!

Cool, I love those high power pump rifles. I like a scoped rifle, they will spoil you, but can cost you on close up or running shots. Down here we dont get many long range shots.

Congrats. I've been shooting a Model760 in.3006 for 28 years now and still like the rifle .I'm glad you and your Dad are spending time doing things together and wish you success.I've used 165 and 180 grain Rem Core-lokt bullets. Do a number on whitetail.

Congratulations. You sound excited, which reminds me of my youthful hunting adventures. Be safe! Nothing ruins a good hunting trip any quicker than hunting with someone who doesn't have everyone's trust. Set a good example, show maturity, and make good choices on everything you do. That way those hunting with you will look forward to doing it again. It is not just about gun safety, whihc is very important. It is also things like knives and everything else that goes along with the activity.

Have fun and get lots of game. Take care of that rifle and it will last you forever.

Good luck with your hunt and remember - never grab a downed deers antlers if his eyelids are closed. ;-) Or, come to think about it, a squirrel! Excert from the book "DUMB THINGS I HAVE DONE"

I have been there, done that with a "dead" squirrel, so I completely understand what you mean. Very, very painful.

Jogeephus,
Am I to understand that y'all have antlered squirrels in Georgia? Any relation to the Jackalope?

Thanks!!! Grandpa has a gamemaster in .308, and swears by it!!!

Actually, I dont get to spend much time with dad, cause he's really busy with harvest, but when hunting season rolls around, we'll be unseperable!!! :D

Backhoe-Im actually (hard to beleive lol) the most serious one of the group, the rest goof off alot, but Theyre great guys!!!, well except for the fact they get me to skin game while they celebrate, but hey, thats the prtice ya pay when they push bush for you and you screw up on a nice whitetail. lol

Never gave it much thought, but I suppose this is true of antlered squirrels too...
Two fellow from Montana, had shot their first elk... Gutted it and were draggin' back to camp by it's hind legs... Another feller noticed that they were jest having the hardest time with the front feet and antlers constently getting tangle in the brush.. So he went on over and told them that it might be easier if they drag it by the antlers... Willing to try anything to make it easier, they each grabbed an antler and off they went... An hour or so later one remarked to the other... Ya know, this is a lot easier... The other one added Yeah.... But we are sure getting a long way from camp...
