Treated a 3 year old hereford cow with lump jaw today. Seems like im seeing 1 to 3 of these every spring. We feed some pretty stemy hay sometimes, have alot of speargrass. The Herefords especially also eat prickly pear in the winter. Its a hard lump but not attached to jaw bone(moveable). Lanced it and got a good drain of pus. Flushed with iodine solution and gave penicillin. I've had good success with this treatment. Maybe 90 percent. That includes one that was culled with a bony lump.Checking to see if anybody has any advice on different treatments or prevention.
