Got our bedroom finished today.
Only have the top 4 logs in the office, 3/4 bath, untility room, closet and pantry to do and it will be 100% done on that job.

then gotta figure out what the next job will be.
Just thought I would share that. :D

Been putting on 2 coats and it is looking awesome.

Glad to hear it. Looks like you are nearing the finished product :tiphat: . Unfortunately I am just starting in about two weeks.

All done. Got it finished today. Only 1 little spot above the stairs, hubby gets to do it. I'm able to get so far up a folding ladder then I'm done due to my fear of heights.
Also got the LAST window stained today too. Hubby did the top of it for me.
Need to try to get most of the window polyureathaned tomorrow.
Thinking of my next project and I'm thinking of putting the handles on the windows. Pretty simple thing to do.

HD still waiting to hear from the lab on the cause. Got a package of sample stains due tomorrow by different makers. Going to see how they do on some leftover pieces of logs.

Isomade just that project. Still so much left to get done yet. One thing at a time, one step at a time.

Got thev window handles on yesterday.

The stain samples arrived and I used the logs behind the kitchen fir out as a test area. No I'm not going ask for opinons this time, after the remarks and debate over the window stains I learned my lesson, but I love all of you for it. :D
I'll get some pictures and show you guys what is there.
Got 3 choices of stain manufactorers. Sikkens, WOODguard and Lifeline Ultra.
we are leaning towards the WOODguard because it is an oil base.

I really want to get the east side of the house stripped and started over, but hubby wants to wait til the framing for the porch and deck are up. Who knows when that will happen. Probably not this year.

I did some looking around and renting a high lift platform for 7 days is around $500. Getting the self leveling one that has a 40ft reach is around $900 for 7 days.

Here we go.
First ones are the Lifeline Ultra only 6 colors there. I skipped the dark log so I could get a good look at them.

I called the paint store we got that stain from, talked to the owner. They are still waiting to hear from the manufactor about the stain.

I then called the guys that put up our house and talked to them. The one guy I talked to agreed that the stain had very likely had gotten frozen at some point. He told me 2 different stains he would recommend us to use. Talked to the store owner and one stain he keeps on hand and the other would be a month out.

Found the one stain I had not heard about, TWP, and they sell samples so I ordered some and are going to try them out in the fir out in the kitchen.
The other was sikkens.

The thunderstorm we had last Thursday took a bunch more stain off the south side.

Went into Home Depot; I normally do not shop there; to get an outdoor topcoat by Varathane for some trim on our basement double door's.
While there I thought to just take a walk through their light section and found a light series I just fell in love with and I am trying to talk hubby into getting them this fall so we can have them when we are ready for them.
Figured it out and it would run us around $1700 to get enough to do the whole house.

Hope the link works, this is what I picked out.

I would love to get the semi flush lights in the kitchen and then do the flush in the rest of the house. There is nothing in the series to go in the hall way, but I found a wall fixture that would somewhat match and if we changed the glass in it to match, it would look great.

Talked with hubby some more he said after he gets the supplies for the rest of the electrical and see how much starting the plumbing would cost, if there is enough left over we will get the fixtures.
Got to do 1 or 2 more light fixtures in the master bath, exhaust vents in all 3 bathrooms and the electrical outlets upstairs all the electrical will be done.
Hubby is already talking about sheet rock for the ceiling and insulation and putting in a wood stove upstairs.

Sad part is having to buy more stain to redo the house is going to cut into the budget.
I really really want to get to work on it right now since things have dried out, still haven't heard from the stain rep or company.

ILH those are really nice I hope your Hubby says yes for you....they are near the same as the one's I have in my living room and dining room. On mine the shades are pointing downwards. and I only have room for a three arm.

Beautiful. I loved our Log Cabin. I am sure you will love yours when you get settled in.
