Going to look at used trucks with about 60000 miles or so. Definitely looking at GM. Updating to four wheel drive. I’ve never owned a four wheel drive and have driven one just a few times. What do I look for how do I check it out?

On dry pavement, in 4wd, when u turn, the steering wheel will bind. Dont push it hard!
Easy way to tell if the 4wd works tho

Correct.

Low range can be tested going straight as well. Top speed is very much less. Very low geared

You have to put the transmission in neutral and make sure transmission is not in a bind before it will go into 4 low. Listen for the transfer chain popping or cv joints popping. I would avoid any that a row crop farmer has owned, they generally abuse them and trade in often. Are you buying a half ton or 3/4 ton?
