A man called yesterday begging for some hay. He had spied our hay and stopped at a neighbors to get our name. He knew how much was there, that some of it was old, etc. etc. My husband told him he had promised others to bail them out if they needed it but the guy only wanted 3 bales and would take the old stuff since he was desperate.
Since it was old we said we would only charge him $10 a bale. He had no way to load it so we agreed to do that too. He didn't show up so called him to make sure we weren't leaving him in the lurch and darned if he didn't say he had to go to Kansas City today and would have to go inspect the hay to see if he wanted to pay $10 a bale for it. Dang, no good deed goes unpunished. Now what?
