I need new ones! Mine have prematurely failed (and were $$$) so I'm thinking of trying one of those online deals, like Warby Parker, where they'll send you several frames to try on for free.
Anyone ever try buying eyeglasses online? On the one hand, it seems sort of sketchy. On the other hand, I spent hundreds on a pair that the nonglare coating cracked and now they are almost opaque. I was a couple months past the end of the 1 year warranty so they won't do anything. Argh.

If you do end up buying online, come back here and report. I spent 400 for one pair, I already had the frames and it was at Walmart... I heard that one company owns just about every eyeglass thing, so, they've had no competition. But, now with online buying they do.......

I bought a set online and they did not work. Sent back for a refund and did not get one. Hope you have better luck than I did.

There are a lot of discount places in my area. I usually can find 2 pairs of bifocals in the $100 range if I am patient. I have one pair as sunglasses. They will try to up sell like all businesses but if you want lower cost it is readily available.

I have had two pair of glasses that "fogged" with the non glare coating.Nothing will remove it.My last pair,I specified were not to have that coating.I'll put up with the glare.

I have progressives and transitions... couldn't remember that at 5am..lol They are so expensive.. Not sure if mine have the glare coating...Is that what makes them look green at certain angles?

Glare coating,if it fails, will look like a smudge from skin oil that you cannot remove.I've tried a lot of things.Even the place that sold them had no success.I even put a pair in a glass of vinegar solution and sat it in the sun one afternoon.

Zenni optical
my wife and I have used them for years,,she buys progressive ($50) mine are $10. At these prices we can afford more than one pair and more often.

Got my new prescription so am glad to read about this Zenni optical. Mine cost $600 the last time, but I wear them 15-20 hours a day and have had these for nearly 4 1/2 years. No complaints. The non-glare coating is "smudged" looking now, and they are progressive and transitions so I can go outside and not get hit with the bright sun. I do like our local guy though, he will fix or adjust as many times as you need and only charges if it is my problem. Got me a new set of arms the last time that another place said would cost over $150 and he charged me $25 or $30 and put them on the glasses and then adjusted them on my head.

Has anyone seen the show Adam Ruins Everything. He has one on glasses, really explains a lot on price. I don't believe all his shows, he's very liberal, so his shows have an agenda...but as long as you know that, he's got some good information on things....

I went to Zenni optical yesterday because I am hard on glasses and last year Was suffering from headaches because I use a computer a lot and with the bifocals. The DR. put me in tri focals and problem went away instantly . Zenni does not do trifocals . I can not wear progressives because Of being on roofs and climbing ladders i have to have that definitive line for depth perception .

I sit in front of a computer 7-8 hours a day, and also wear bifocals. Go to your eye doctor, and have him or her write you a prescription for single lenses set for your vision at the distance from your head to your monitor. I can't recommend this highly enough. I have a pair that I keep on my desk. As soon as I sit down I take off my bifocals and put them on. Whenever I need to get up I switch them out again. It's no big deal, and is much better than trying to turn my head just right so I can see.

I can appreciate that but I'm done swapping glasses. I can even remember to swap glasses when im welding or grinding hence the issue with being hard on glasses. I like the trifocals and they help alot when welding also.

My mother in law brought over some reading glasses she got from a Tuesday Morning...They were really pretty and a 2.75 like I need. I had them on 1 min and they nearly had me cross eyed. Yeah, they were cheap glasses, but dang, how can they get it so wrong...My fav reading glasses are cheapo ones I got at Ross...wished I could find more, but cant remember the brand....ugh
