Geo textile question

I have a spot that seems to have been the old dump from the previous owners. No matter how much I clean it pieces of metal and glass keep appearing. I am thinking about putting geo textlie down and then covering it with about 6 to 8 inches of good top soil. My question is will grass grow on top of the geo with 6-8 inches of dirt on top?

Yep...weeds too!

Grass & weeds can germinate and sprout/grow in almost no soil/gravel "soil". Will even grow through small cracks in asphalt and concrete. If roots hit an impermeable barrier, they will just start growing sideways...

I agree with the rest. I have it on my 1200' road and all around the barn and lots. Grass and weeds grow just like it was dirt. Thank God for Roundup!

Sure, it will work just fine.

Depending on what they put in their "dump", if you think it might have hazardous stuff in it, you should consider a couple of weeping willow trees. The nastier it is, the more they will thrive in it.
