Has anyone used one of these? It looks like it is installed by the power company (if they approve it) and fits behind their meter and has a receptacle for connecting a generator. Would eliminate all extension cords and be safe. The company is located in Lawrenceville, Ga.

There are lots of brands if them. I don't know if any are better or worse than others. Our local electric co-op sells and installs them at a "discount" for members. Still not cheap though. But pretty much a must for an automatic back up. I've always been curious what makes such a small contraption so expensive. Lots of people still make their own doubled ended cords to back feed because the switches are so expensive.
