i inherited a 6' offset mower name on side is ( williams ) , need to replace gearbox. I use a Ford 4600 and Ford 7600, 4600 rated as 52hp at pto and 7600 at pto is 85hp, never doing this before i've noticed mowers gearboxs have hp ratings am i to assume i need a gearbox rated higher than 85 hp? any help in finding the best deal and what to get would be appreciated !

If the gearbox is shot, your best bet and likely more economically feasible decision is probably to keep mower shopping. 52HP is probably ideal for a 6' mower. IMO, 85 isn't too far out of line, but you do need to be more careful and not push the mower as hard. The higher HP tractor will not pull down much in tough spots

I blew up a gear box one an 8 foot brushog. A totally new gearbox from bushhog was about half the cost of just getting the parts and rebuilding the old one. Didn;t/doesn;t make sense but I'm glad I checked wit the manufacturer.
