Help Support CattleToday:

I heard they had like 2300 head at the local sale today. That's a big sale for this time of year. I'm guessing that is people dumping light calves due to the poor conditions and high prices. We culled a few cows and I have some more on the list for in a month or so once they dry up from the calves that just came off them.

When you drive the roads around here you don't see near the cattle you use to. It will be interesting to see how many people stay out.

Pasture doesn't sit empty here for too long. Someone getting bigger or someone starting out will snap it up. Pretty much everyone is running on more leased land than deeded land.

Probably about half the cattle around here as a few years ago and even less farmers. I guess the bigger farmers produce more. From the looks of most people they look well fed.
