have a 8 yr old furnace not firing.

It's not giving power to the gas valve to open. If I bypass the motherboard and give power to the gas valve, it will open and everything works fine, except the furnace won't turn off (throws a flame detected w/o gas valve code)

Every component checks out. I did notice on the motherboard that a small diode is burnt.

I'm leaning toward the motherboard. Are the relays built into the motherboards now because I couldn't find one.

It sounds like you need a new mother board. I would call a local heating and air company, and tell them whats going on. Maybe they can tell you what it is without coming out.

Does it not have a light on it that is flashing? Usually there will be a light that will flash when something is wrong, and you count the number of flashes to see what the error code means.

Hey.. I'll be over your way in a couple days I gotta pick up a baler over there near springfield I think.

replaced the board on a Goodman last week. For the last three years I have had a problem with its solder joints. They must have used a faulty solder on the first one a new board was only 60.00 + tax so I replaced it.

Yhea Springfield is about thirty minutes from me. Kinda far drive for a baler, isn't it? Is it something special?

yea, I got it for a really good price so I guess the 18 hours of driving are worth it.. I tried to have someone ship it for me but everyone wants too much.
