frozen alfalfa

I have a small pasture with quite a bit of alfalfa in it. The cattle have been off for a few months and it has grown back quite well. We had a light frost a few nights ago, but the alfalfa is not discolored. Can I still cut it and put it up for hay? Or will it have nitrate poisoning potential?

i would leave it ,it will help it survive threw the winter,other wise it could winterkill

To the best of my knowledge, alfalfa does not pose a nitrate poisoning problem. If it was a killing frost, and you're wanting to hay it you need to get it cut - now.
