Freeze got my tomato's two weeks ago.
I had squash and zucchini up and it got down to 26 last night.
I covered them with a bucket but idk if that worked or not.
Old wives tale says when the mesquites come out the freeze chance is over.
They were out and it got down to 26 last night.
That's twice that's happened that I remember

Had 26 two mornings ago after 3 plus inches of rain. Rule of thumb here has always been 10th of May to be safe from frost or freezing but about 5 or 6 years ago we had 2 consecutive nights of 25 and 26 on Memorial day weekend. The wind has been blowing like a banshee too. May wind up being like that year in the late 1800's when Vermont had snow and freezing weather in the middle of June when a farmer was plowing his field. SURE HOPE NOT. Called the year of no summer, if I can remember where I saw it for reference.

I looked at my cabbages this morning and can tell they got pretty darn cold due to the change in color of them. I don't plant tomatoes or peppers until May and even then we still have some frosts some years.
