In addition to my first question regarding twins, Is this also true when it is two heifers, and is the bull calf ever sterile ?

No and no.
With twins where both are heifers you have no male hormones present to interfere with the development of either heifer's reproductive organs. The heifers are normal.
It's only when you have a set of twins composed of one heifer calf and one bull calf that the heifer has a problem. This is because the male hormones of the bull calf affect (damage) the development of the twin heifer calf's reproductive organs. Male hormones are normal for a bull calf and do not do him any harm.
Dale,
I have a set of holstein heifer twins. They are two yrs old and both are bred. I don't think there is a problem when it's heifer twins. I've heard that the bulls may not be as fertile, but don't know if there is any truth to it.
Tim
