various parts of Texas
according to some our country is in a state of turmoil and despair. that could be
true in a small picture. each is entitled to their own opinnion.
look at the bigger picture.

"in the land of the free and the home of the brave". look around us, we are still free
unlike many parts of the world. brave, each must determine what that means for us.

memorial day is everyday for me.

1. think of those whom you knew or others that you never knew who gave of themselves
in whatever capacity to serve their country.

2. especially remember those from more recent times who suffered traumatic injuries
from which they will always have physical and emotional problems to deal with.

3. from my era of early 60's the number of us remaining on the "mortal coil" are likely
dimishing at a rapid rate. be thankful for anyone the you knew includinng yourself who
served and helped us be free and brave. bless one and all on this memorial day.

am neither as succinct nor pithy as formerly, hope this made sense

One of the responsibilities of citizenship is to honor the fallen by renewing our commitment to the freedoms enumerated in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights... and our democratic privilege to choose our own leaders.
Unfortunately we no longer choose our own candidates and the system we are using prevents better candidates from running. This is an evolution in which the people's will has not kept up with those that would manipulate the vote.
It all comes down to this... Patriots don't have to cheat because they use the better argument.
And that goes for all political parties and those they run for office.
At least that's the way it's supposed to work.

We DO get to choose our own candidates though... at least IF you're involved with your local party of choice. I'm a county party delegate heading to the state convention here next week to choose who we will have running in "my party" for Governor, U.S. Senate, State AG, Sec. of State, Auditor, etc. If you're not involved with your local party chapter though, then yeah... you DON'T get to choose your own candidates. It's all a part of the process.

Yes, tomorrow is a very special day. Not about 20% off an already overpriced mattress or free pancakes at waffle house.
Not about veterans who served in war time but made it home to live out their lives either. It's solely to remember and honor those who gave all while in uniform in the service of their nation. We fly our flags tomorrow---at half mast for those who paid the ultimate price & made our lives free to live mostly as we see fit, without the yoke of tyranny.
