They say bull beef isn't as good as steer beef.. We had a 30 month old bull we slaughtered, he's been excellent eating, the best cuts of steaks absolutely melt in your mouth. he was 3/4 SH

Interpreting the results using a football analogy:
Stock that is built like a running back is better than stock that is built like an offensive lineman.


This year will go down in the record books for the feed stores and salebarn. The salebarn is selling all of the culls and sausage cows as breeders and the 1,000lb feed sacks are flying out the feed mill to feed them.

It is all about the bottom line. If you spent $1.70 to make $2/lb you are earning less than the guy who spent 0.80 to make $1.50lb.
 
A interesting article! It goes along with research at Texas A&m now. They went into slaughter houses and found yield 1 prime grade carcuses and cloned them. The last I read they have 5 bull calves and three heifers. It will be interesting where there research goes now. Mel
