Had two shows this weekend, one with goats and one with cattle.

At the goat show, we had a team of 16 and we got

- Champion Doe Kid
- Champion Junior Doe
- Reserve Champion Junior Doe
- Champion Senior Doe
- Reserve Champion Junior Buck
- Reserve Champion Senior Buck
- Supreme Boer Goat Exhibit (the Champ. Junior Doe)
- Most Successful Exhibitor

Also, the Reserve Champion Senior Doe and the Reserve Champion Buck Kid were ones we have bred and sold to a local breeder who has just started in goats.

On a side note, I have never seen so much cheating going on in a goat show ring in my life. Animals being aged down, does being show in the 'kid at foot' class with 8 month old weaned kids . . . it just went on and on and on. And we still beat them

At the cattle show the next day we had a team of 10 and three halves, and we got

- Champion Interbreed Bull (Cappucino)
- Reserve Champion Interbreed Bull (Ironbark at 6 weeks)

- Champion Interbreed Female (Tingle)
- Reserve Champion Interbreed Female (old Misty)

- Supreme Exhibit (Cappa)

Every animal we took won or placed 2nd or 3rd in its class. In the old cow class, those two cows we pulled out of the paddock, the silver cow was first and the chocolate one was second.

Let me tell you, the place was very nearly demolished by a couple of the other exhibitors who were VERY upset firstly that we won every champion, and secondly that our 6 week old bull calf was placed R.Champ over all the old bulls. I've never seen such bad sportsmanship - these people were abusing us, abusing the judge, abusing the stewards, accusing us of knowing the judge and inferring that there was favouritism going on. Oh boy it was getting pretty ugly. They ended up leaving in a huff after stating they would never be coming back to the show. And the funny thing was the steward said to them "Well if you are going to react like that every time you dont win I dont want you to come back". We all cracked up.

So yeah, two very controversial and interesting shows. We had a good weekend, and got some very good input on our animals.

Oh yeah, and I forgot the camera, so no pics.

well done on your results, I must admit that a 6 week old reserve champion bull is pushing it a bit ;-)

We had that happen up here in the Dexter ring earlier this year.

And we still beat em to!

Well done though!

I'm surprised they let you show Ironbark seperately.

We're only allowed to show animals individaully after they're six months old.

Way to go Keren!!! Don't you just love it when you beat a "cheat". You're cow/calf pairs looked pretty awesome.

We kinda swept the show at NY State Fair, the crowd kinda quit cheering or clapping. But, in the end, everyone praised the judge - thought he did a great job - and congratulated us on a great set of offspring.
We brought 5 head - all by our Macho bull. I can't remember a showstring doing so well all sired by the same bull.

Jeanne.. do you ever haul to any of the Simmy majors? The Royal, or Denver? I've only heard you mention the east coast shows.

Yes, East Coast mainly.
I showed at the Royal once many years ago. Way too costly and to no benefit - I mainly show to advertise our cattle to promote sales.
Been to Ohio also.
We usually go to Louisville, KILE (Pa.), Eastern Nat'l in Timonium, Md (but that show is dying) and a few in NY.
Hubby works full time off farm, so limited time off work.
